PURPOSE

The purpose of the implementation of the market information system for beef market is to establish the market price in the representative market. The market price serves as a basis for the measures of intervention buying-in and storage support. The collected data are forwarded to the competent ministry and EU bodies.

LEGAL BASIS

The basis for the implementation of the market information system for beef market is Slovenian as well as EU legislation that precisely define the rules of the implementation.

• Commission Regulation (EEC) No 295/96 of 16 February 1996 laying down detailed rules for the application of the Council Regulation (EEC) No 1892/87 as regards the recording of market prices of adult bovine animals, on the basis of the Community scale for classification of carcases;
• Commission Regulation (EC) No 2181/2001 of 9 November 2001 amending Regulation (EEC) No 563/82 as regards the criterion for identifying young uncastrated male bovine animals;

• Council Regulation (EC) No 1234/2007 of 22 October 2007 establishing a common organisation of agricultural markets and on specific provisions for certain agricultural products (Single CMO Regulation)
