PURPOSE AND MEASURES

The purpose of the measure is to lessen the risk of adverse weather conditions and animal diseases in agricultural production as well as in aquatic animals breeding by increasing the scope of insurance.

Co-financing of insurance premiums for insuring agricultural production and fisheries:

• Insurance of crops and fruits against the risk of hail, fire, stroke of lightning, flood, storm, spring frost, frost or hoar if it causes spring frost;
• Insurance of animals against the risk of dying due to diseases, slaughter on the basis of a veterinary referral and/or execution due to disease and economic slaughter due to disease;
• Insurance of aquatic animals breeding on a fish farm.

BENEFICIARIES

Beneficiaries of the co-financing of the insurance premium for insuring agricultural production are legal or natural persons who:

• enter into insurance contracts;
• for crops and fruits from 1. 1. 2008 to 31. 8. 2008;
• for animals from 1. 1. 2008 to 31. 12. 2008;
• are holders of agricultural holdings;
• are entered into the register of agricultural holdings, and
• belong to the group of small and large enterprises.

Companies receiving state aid for rescuing and restructuring of companies in difficulty are not entitled to the aid.

AMOUNT OF THE INSURANCE PREMIUM CO-FINANCING

The insurance premium co-financing, including the tax on insurance contracts, amounts to:

• for crops and fruits up to 40% of the calculated insurance premium;
• for animal diseases:

• breeding cattle up to 10 EUR
• breeding heifers up to 5 EUR
• cattle for fattening up to 6 EUR
• breeding pigs up to 4 EUR
• pigs for fattening up to 2 EUR
• equids up to 20 EUR
• sheep and goats up to 2 EUR

• for animal disease in aquatic animals breeding on a fish farm and other animals (bees, poultry, rabbits and similar) up to 30% of the calculated insurance premium.

HOW TO OBTAIN FUNDS

The co-financed part of the premium is claimed on behalf of beneficiaries by insurance companies that submit claims for payment of the co-financed part of insurance premium for:

• crops and fruits up to 30. 9. 2008;
• animals, including aquatic animals breeding, up to 31. 3. 2009.
