The AAMRD is a key institution for the disbursement of national and European budget funds intended for agricultural markets and rural development. A part of funds is also intended for the development of food-processing industry, forestry and fishery. Since its establishment, the AAMRD implements agricultural policy measures, and from 2001 on it manages European and national pre-accession programme SAPARD funds that is being completed in 2006.
The AAMRD currently implements 100 measures in six fields. The implementation of measures in individual year depends on legal bases defining exactly which measures are to be implemented in a particular year and which not. The implementation of certain measures (e.g. intervention measures) depends on the situation on the agricultural products and foodstuffs markets.
The implementation of measures is divided within the following 3 internal organisational units Direct Payments Section, Rural Development Section and Agricultural Markets Section.
